Earlier this year by executive order Governor Brewer separating Child Protective Services from the Arizona Department of Economic Security and creating a cabinet level agency. However, obtaining the funding to make that transition and to create an agency that will better protect children and aid families is proving to be a challenge. As of yesterday the Senate passed a plan that falls short of the Governor’s requested budget but it is unclear if the House will agree. You can view the Senate and Governor’s proposals at these links. Everyone who cares about these issues is encouraged to contact their legislator in the House to give their input and let them know the community cares. If there is going to be change and millions of dollars spent raise your voice so that it is meaningful change.
